We were asked by Robert Blair Primary School to study how people arrived at the school through out the day. The school sits between two parallel roads, with the current main reception and office favouring one over the other. This limited the opportunity for interaction between staff and parents with a large portion of those that use the school. Our main task was to identify a more suitable location for the main office that brought together the two sides of the building. At the schools perimeter we also explored ways of making the school more visible and welcoming on the street. On the south side we widened the pavement via a kink in the wall creating a more generous space for parents to wait. On the north side we introduced a projecting clock, and a new arch way to open up a constrained access.
